Este es otro movil que tengo visto en Paternal, de vuelta de la casa de mi mama. El sabado 14/12 me fui directo a dibujarlo. Tarde cerca de 2h en dibujar. Boceto de lápiz, microfibra 005+01en libreta Brugge 12x19cm, 180grm. Acuarela en mi escritorio.

Catedral Metropolitana III / Metropolitan Cathedral III:

Nuevamente, el martes 17, escapando del calor del mediodía me fui a la catedral a ver que podia dibujar. Desde una nave lateral dibuje este detalle del altar principal. Estaba sentado en un banco de madera. La temperatura en el interior es muy buena inclusive en estos dias de calor que estamos pasando en BA.
Dijujado con microfibras 005+01+03 y luego acuarelas en mi escritorio. 40 minutos dibujando en el sitio sobre sobre libreta Brugge 12x19cm, 180grm.

Again, on Tuesday 17, escaping the midday heat I went to the cathedral to see what I could draw. From an aisle draw this detail of the main altar. Was sitting on a wooden bench. The temperature inside is very good even in these very hot days here in BA.

Mercedes Benz:

Todos los dias llevo a mis hijos al colegio, y en la esquina de La Pampa y Estomba, en Belgrano R esta esta joya, ahí abandonada y librada a su suerte. Así es que cada vez que paso (todos los días de semana) pienso que tengo que dedicarle un dibujo.

Hoy íbamos a salir a dibujar con algunos colegas, pero al final no se dio y fui solo directo a buscar a este auto.

Tarde un poco menos de 2h en dibujar y pintar. Boceto de lápiz, microfibra 005 y acuarelas en libreta Brugge 12x19cm, 180grm.

El lector verá que en la hoja hay unos puntitos verdes. Fue una lluvia de líquido desconocido que cayó del árbol…

Every weekday I take my children to school, and at the corner of La Pampa and Estomba in Belgrano R is this gem, abandoned to its own fate. So every time I saw it (all weekdays) I think I have to dedicate “her” a sketch.

Today we were going out to draw with some fellow sketchers, but finally we did not, so I went straight to look for this car.

Took shot than 2 hours to draw and paint. Outlined on pencil, fineliner 005 and watercolours on site on Brugge sketchbook 12x19cm, 180grm.

The viewer will see that there are little green dots in the page. It was an unknown liquid fallen from the tree...

Catedral Metropolitana II / Metropolitan Cathedral II:

Hoy al mediodía quería dibujar un rato pero estaba realmente caluroso, no tenia ganas de transpirar en la calle. Me metí en la Catedral a buscar algo que dibujar y el piso me llamó. Adentro estaba realmente agradable.

El piso es de mosaico veneciano, y según pude ver googleando fue fabricado en Inglaterra y diseñado por el arquitecto Morra.

Tarde 1 hora en hacer el dibujo de línea en el sitio, con Lamy EF. Despues acuarelas en casa sobre libreta Brugge 12x19cm, 180grm.

Today at noon I wanted to draw for a while but it was really hot, had no desire to perspire in the street. I got into the Cathedral to find something to draw, and the floor call for my attention. Inside was really nice in there.

The floor is made of Venetian mosaic, googling as I could see was manufactured in England and designed by architect Morra.

Took 1 hour to make the linework on site, with Lamy EF. Later watercolors at home on Brugge skethbook 12x19cm, 180grm.

Casa Rosada / Pink House:

Vagando por Plaza de Mayo me decidí a dibujar este detalle de la Casa Rosada.

Fueron 3 mediodías de 30/40 minutos c/u, y ya sabía que sería así ya que este fin de año viene muy cargado de trabajo. Aparte, desde el primer día que lo dibujé hasta que termine pasaron como 2 semanas. A veces no podía ir, a veces el banco que elegí estaba ocupado… un dia me sente e instantáneamente empezó a llover, etc, etc.

Con Lamy EF directamente con tinta resistente al agua y luego acuarelas en mi escritorio en libreta Brugge 12x19cm, 180grm.

Roaming on Plaza de Mayo I decided to draw this detail of the Casa Rosada.

It took 3 noons of about 30/40 minutes each to complete the line work. I knew it's going to be that way because I'm really busy this final part of the year. Besides, since the first day to the last one when finished the sketch a 2 weeks span passed by. Some days I can't go, others the bench that I choose was busy, another day in the exact moment that I sat to draw started raining, etc, etc.

Otro a la tardecita, sobre Av. Paseo Colón esquina Moreno. Salí con la idea de dibujar la esquina de Paseo Colón y Venezuela que dibujó Tomas, pero me quede en este hermoso edificio. De parado y apoyado en un arbol en la vereda de enfrente.

Microfibra 005+01+02 en 1:20hs aprox. Luego acuarelas en mi escritorio sobre libreta Brugge 12x19cm, 180grm.

Another at noon, over Paseco Colón Av. in the corner at Moreno St.. Go out with the idea to draw the corner of Paseo Colón Av. and Venezuela St. that Tomas draw, but I stop at this beautiful building. Standing leaning on a tree in the opposite sidewalk.

Sketchcrawl #41

El Sábado 19/10 se realizó el sketchcrawl 41 y coincidió con la salida de Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires en Plaza Lavalle.
Llegue un rato antes y di unas cuantas vueltas para ver que dibujar y esquivar el sol que estaba fuerte. Finalmente me decidí por el remate del Palacio de Justicia sentado bajo una palmera bien alta. Terminé a 10 metros de donde había empezado siguiendo la sombra del árbol.
Decidí deformar la perspectiva porque para los elementos horizontales y largos, mas mi punto de observación estaría casi haciendo una fachada con un punto de fuga (y no queria).
1:30 hs dibujando en el sitio con microfibra 005 sobre algunas líneas a lápiz. Luego complete por 30 min más en casa, y luego acuarelas.
El segundo dibujo es una farola en la vereda del Teatro Colón. Dibujada en 15 minutos en el sitio con microfibras 005+01, luego acuarelas en casa, sobre libreta Brugge 12x19. Los blancos son de marcador de gel.

Sketchcrawl #41
On Saturday 19/10 we have the #41 Sketchcrawl, and coincided with the Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires sketching afternoon in Plaza Lavalle.
Arrived a little early to walk and choose my subject, point of view and have shelter from the sun, it was heavy. Finally opt for the Justice Hall, sitting under a high palm.I ended up 10 meters from where I started following the shadow of the tree.
I decided to warp the perspective because for the horizontal and long elements, in addition to my observation point would almost making a facade with one vanishing point (and would not).
1:30 hs drawing on site with fineliner 005 over some pencil guides. Then finished the linework for about 30 min more and watercolours.
The second sketch is about a lamppost on the sidewalk of the Teatro Colón. Drawn in 15 minutes on site with fineliners 005+01, then watercolors at home, on 12x19 book Brugge. Whites are gel marker.

Hoy al mediodía quería salir a dibujar un rato pero tenía mucho hambre, asique me fui a comer un par de empanadas catamarqueñas (de las mejores del microcentro).

Edificio First National Bank of Boston / First National Bank of Boston Building:

Otro croquis hecho en 2 mediodías. Parado sobre Diagonal Norte, mirando hacia la intersección de la Diagonal con Calle Florida. El edificio de la derecha es el Ex Banco de Boston, y a la izquierda esta el monumento a Roque Saenz Peña (que da nombre a la diagonal).
Realizado en Lamy EF con tinta resistente al agua, luego acuarelas en mi escritorio. En cuaderno Brugge 12x17.5cm, hoja de 100grm. 90 min aprox.

Another sketch done in two lunch breaks. Standing on Diagonal Norte, facing the intersection of Diagonal and Calle Florida. The building on the right is the former Bank of Boston, and at the left is the monument to Roque Saenz Peña (which gives its name to the diagonal).

Railway Building

Otro croquis en 2 mediodias dedicados al mismo sujeto. Hacia un tiempo quería dibujar este edificio pero no encontraba un día con unas horas libres para dedicarle, asique un dia de semana camine por Paseo Colón, de un lado y otro de Alsina para ver el punto de vista, hasta que me decidí por dibujar la fachada de Paseo Colón, apoyado en la reja de los jardines del Ministerio de Defensa. Estaba fresco y soleado, pero el viento que viene del río no tuvo piedad de mi...
Seguramente otro día volveré para hacer más croquis de este hermoso edificio, y sobre todo de la esquina y las fachadas de ambas calles en fuga.
Dibujado en Lamy EF y F con tinta resistente al agua. Luego un poco de acuarela en mi escritorio. En libreta Brugge 12x19. Entre las 2 sesiones tarde 80min aprox.

Another sketch on 2 lunchbreak dedicated to the same subject. For a while I wanted to draw this building but can´t find a day day with a few spare hours to spend in this task, so on a weekday walking along Paseo Colon Av., on either side of Alsina St. to set my POV finally decided to draw Paseo Colon´s facade, lean on a grating of the gardens of the Ministry of Defence. Was cold and sunny, but the wind from the river had no mercy on me.
Surely one day I will return to do more sketches of this beautiful building, and especially the corner and the facades of two streets on the vanishing point.
Drawn in Lamy EF and F with waterproof ink. Then bit of watercolor @ my desk. On sketchbook 12x19cm. Drawing 80min between 2 sessions.

Basílica de San Francisco / Basilica of San Francisco

En 2 mediodías de 30min aprox hice el dibujo de línea. Elegí dibujar solo una de las torres de campanario ya que tenía la libreta chica (9x14cm). Parado en la vereda de enfrente a la fachada apoyado en unos andamios sobre la calle Alsina. Realizado con microfibras 005 01 y 02. Luego un poco de acuarela en mi escritorio.

In 2 lunchbreaks, in 30min approx each did the line drawing. I choose to draw only one of the bell towers, because had the little sketchbook (9x14cm). Standing on the sidewalk in front of the facade lean on a scaffold over Alsina street. Drawn with fineliners 005 01 and 02. Then some watercolor @ my desk.

Bahia Blanca:

Por razones laborales visite en 3 oportunidades la ciudad de Bahía Blanca, en la Provincia de Buenos Aires. Los 3 fueron viajes de ida y vuelta en el dia. Llegaba a la mañana temprano y volvía alrededor de las 20hs. En todos los casos, a mas tardar a las 14hs ya habia terminado mi trabajo, entonces almorzaba y cruzaba a la Plaza Rivadavia.
El primer dibujo que hice fue el remate de la torre del Palacio Municipal. Bocetado en lápiz, luego microfibras 005+01, en 1:30hs aprox. Acuarelas en casa. Sobre libreta Brugge 12x19cm, 180grm.

For business reasons I visit Bahia Blanca city in Buenos Aires Province in 3 opportunities. All the trips where 1 day round, arriving early in the morning and back at 8pm. In all cases, no later than at 14hs had already finished my work, then having lunch and crossed the Rivadavia square.
The first sketch I did was the top of the tower of the City Hall. Outlined in pencil, then fineliners 005+01 in 1:30hs approx. Then watercolours @home. On Brugge sketchbook 12x19cm, 180gms.

En la tercera tuve poco tiempo, pero en el aeropuerto mientras esperaba mi vuelo dibuje una columna de transformador eléctrico en el estacionamiento, el tractor de arrastre del avión (lamentablemente llegó el avión y el tractor se fue… quedó incompleto) y en vuelo dibujé la cabina (acuarela incluída). Todos con microfibra 005+01, sobre libreta Brugge 14x9cm, hoja 100gms. Acuarelas en mi escritorio.

On the 3rd was short on spare time, but at the airport while waiting for my flight I caught a electrical transformer over a concrete structure in the parking lot, a plane tow truck (unfortunately the plane arrived so the truck go away… remained incomplete) and at the flight sketched the cabin (watercolours included). All this sketches with fineliners 005+01, on Brugge sketchbook 12x19cm, 180gms.

Recoleta

El Sábado 27/7/13 realizamos una salida a la Recoleta varios colegas. Nos encontramos a las 10am y fuimos directamente a Plaza Francia a dibujar. Fue un hermoso dia aunque estaba un poco fresco.
Dibujamos hasta las 13hs y fuimos a comer pizza, luego seguimos a la tarde dentro del cementerio. Antes de volver, compartimos un buen café e intercambiamos experiencias y croquis.
Este fue el primer croquis que hice, sentado en una pequeña plazoleta de Av. Alvear justo antes de la curva hacia Schiaffino, mirando hacia Nuestra Señora del Pilar. Quise retratar el monumento a Torcuato de Alvear por su verticalidad contrastando con el paseo de la feria de artistas y artesanos, con sus tiendas un tanto desprolijas y el CC Recoleta e Iglesia del Pilar a la distancia.

On Saturday 7/27/13 with fellow sketchers go to Recoleta. We met at 10am and went straight to Plaza Francia to draw. It was a beautiful day even though it was a little cold.
Draw until 13pm and went to eat pizza to Vicente Lopez St. At the afternoon we visit the cemetery. before heading back home, we share a coffee and exchanged experiences and sketches.
This was the first sketch I did, sitting on a small square of Alvear Avenue just before the turn to Schiaffino, facing Nuestra Señora del Pilar church. I wanted to portray the Torcuato de Alvear monument for its verticality in contrasts with craftsmen fair, with their tents a little messy, with Del Pilar church an Recoleta Cultural Centre in the distance.
Fine liners 005 and watercolours, for about 2hs. On Brugge sketchbook 12x19cm, 180grm.

A la tarde seguimos en el interior del Cementerio de la Recoleta. Me gustó este espacio de tumbas en la plazoleta del Cristo Central. La tumba más alta es la de Guillermo Rawson. Me gusto la escena ya que el sol estaba bajo, e iluminaba algunas caras directamente dando un buen contraste.

In the afternoon we continue inside the Recoleta Cemetery. Liked this space full of graves in the square of Central Christ. The highest one is the grave of William Rawson. I liked the scene as the sun was low, and lit a few faces directly giving a good contrast. Fine liners 005 + 01 and watercolours, for about 1.5hs. On Brugge sketchbook 12x19cm, 180grm.

Cafe Tortoni:

El Café Tortoni es un café tradicional, aparte de ser uno de los bares notables de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Muchas veces que pase por la puerta quise dibujar la fachada, pero no encontraba la oportunidad hasta esta vez. Un dia de mucho frio, pero con tiempo para dibujar! Una lástima que solamente traía la libreta chica, ya que me hubiese gustado hacer un dibujo un poco más grande y detallado. Con microfibra 005 y acuarelas en mi escritorio. 1 hora dibujando en el sitio, sobre libreta Brugge 14x9cm, hoja 100gms.

The Cafe Tortoni is a traditional coffee shop, besides being one of the “bares notables” in Buenos Aires. I pass often times in front of the cafe with the idea to draw the facade, but the opportunity was not until this time. A very cold day, but with spare time to sketch! The downside is that I carry on my little sketchbook,and I wish to make a larger and detailed drawing. Drawn with fineliner 005 and watercolours @ my desk. 1 hour drawing at location, on 14x9cm sketchbook, 100gms sheet.

Banco Argentino Uruguayo / Argentino Uruguayo Bank:

El Banco Argentino Uruguayo, actualmente sede de la Jefatura de Gabinete de Ministros de la Nación obra de Eduardo Le Monnier. Dibujado en microfibra 005, luego acuarela en mi escritorio. Dibujo de línea en 2 sesiones de 40min aprox.

Lo dibuje bajo un techito del núcleo del ascensor de la estación Catedral del subte línea D (sobre Av. Diagonal Norte entre Florida y Rivadavia) porque primero estaba apoyado cómodamente en un auto, pero tuve que correr bajo techo porque el edificio que está frente a este están restaurando las fachadas y bajaba una leve lluvia de agua sucia.

Mientras dibujaba me crucé con 2 personajes. Primero vino un linyera y casi me lleva puesto porque quería entrar al ascensor (que obviamente no funciona) y luego de varios epítetos se percató que había alguien más (yo) y se quedó mirando que es lo que estaba haciendo, y luego de 30 segundos aproximadamente se fue. Al rato un señor de unos 70 años me pregunta si está dibujando (¡!). Le muestro el dibujo y pregunta si sabía de quién es el edificio. Le digo que no y me dice textual " de Edouard Stanislas Louis Le Monnier". Me cuenta un par de curiosidades de este edificio (que no sabía) y luego me cuenta detalles de la cúpula del Edificio Bencich (también de Le Monnier). Estuvimos hablando por 20 minutos aprox. Resulta que no es arquitecto el hombre, es contador!

The Banco Argentino Uruguayo, now home of the Gabinete de Ministros de la Nación by Eduardo Le Monnier. Drawn with fineliner 005, then watercolours @ my desk. The linework took 2 sessions of about 40 minutes each. I was drawing below a canopy of Catedral subway station lift entrance of Line D (over Diagonal Norte Av. between Florida and Rivadavia St.) because at first, I was lean on a parked car, but over the facade of the building next to me where full of scaffolding and some restoration work in progress so a dirty rain was falling down.

While drawing I experiment two very different situations. First, a homeless man almost passed over me to call for the subway station elevator, it was out of order and after lots of rude language he noticed that there was someone else (me) and he stared at what I was doing. After 30 second he go away. A couple of minutes later a man in his 70´s asked me if I was drawing (¡!). I show him the sketch and asked if I knew who´s the architect was. I say no and he told me verbatim "Edouard Stanislas Louis Le Monnier”. He told me a couple of curiosities of this building (that I didn't know) and then tells me a curiosity about the dome of the Bencich Building (also from Le Monnier). We talked for about 20 minutes. Turns out the man is not an architect, he´s an accountant!

Calle Florida / Florida Street:

Este miercoles me tome un largo rato y dibuje parado apoyado en la baranda de una salida de subte sobre Diagonal Norte.

El croquis de la izquierda es un detalle de fachada del Edificio La Equitativa del Plata, en la esquina de Diagonal y Florida. Detalle de las ventanas sobre la esquina (lo dibuje después del de la derecha, ya tenía poco tiempo).

El de la derecha es el edificio ex Casa Mappin & Webb, ex BNL y actual HSBC y esta pegado al edificio de Mario Botta Florida 40.

Ambos los dibuje directamente en microfibra 005 y luego acuarela en casa. Estuve 1:20hs aprox para hacerlos en línea sobre cuaderno Brugge 12x17.5cm, hoja de 100grm.

This Wednesday I took a long lunch break and draw standing leaning on the railing of a subway exit on Diagonal Norte Av.

The sketch on the left is a detail of the facade of La Equitativa del Plata Building, on the corner of Diagonal Norte Av. and Florida Street. It´s a closeup of the windows on the corner (I drew after the one over the right, and had little time).

On the right is the former Casa Mappin & Webb, former BNL Bank and current HSBC Bank and is next by Mario Botta´s  building on 40 Florida Street.

Both drawn directly with fineliner 005+01 and then watercolor at home. About 1:20hs drawing on site on Brugge sketchbook 12x17.5cm, 100grm sheet.
